help using psu and 9800 pro (first build)

hi,

am currently building my first pc. i just need something clearing up for me. i've got an antec sonata case with the truepower power supply.

1) the power cables from the psu all have two or more different connectors on them. can i only use one of the connectors on the same wires or can i use more than one?

2) have just fitted my 9800 pro. i know it has to have a separate power supply, but the lead that comes off it has both male and female 4 pin molex connectors. do i plug both of them in, or just select one?

RIghty,
You can use as many connectors on a cable as you want, unless you are building a p4 rig or using a select few AMD mobos, then you won't need the 2x2 connector which has 2 yellow wires and 2 black wires.
For the 9800pro you only need to use the splitter cable that comes with it if you have run out of connectors. All of the same connectors from the power supply give the same voltages so that doesn't matter.

Just a small note in case you have not picked it up from the manual and that is some of the connectors from the PSU are labelled as 7V and should only be used for connecting fans and not HDD or graphics cards.

Yep you can, it only comes with it if people are lacking in connectors . A normal molex power connector should be red-black-black-red, it seems like by what Hottentot has said it comes with some 7v molexs which should only be two cables, red and yellow, as it uses the red (5v) as a ground which makes 12v = 7v
