Hp net book blank screen

Hi a friend gave me his hp 210-3035sa netbook to fix and it has me stumped, it powers up (fans start up , hard drive powers up) but the screen dose not, the only lights that stay on are the wifi light and the mute speaker, I have tried reseating the ram and connecting a VGA cable and still nothing.

I have come across something similar with an Acer net book, an somehow the bios got corrupted. The good thing about newer laptops that you can do a flash from usb without needing to see what you are doing so I would look that up and give it a try.
