Odd sound issue in some games
The issues is this- When the game goes to a cut scene and you have back ground noise and characters talking, for some reason the character speech is very quiet, Where as the the back ground music/noise is fine. It happened in Max Payne 3 which i though was a one off, but then its happened with sleeping dogs as well. Now the issue only happens when I put my headphones into the my speakers, but if I just play using my speakers all is ok.
Any ideas?
Re: Odd sound issue in some games
I've had this issue with films before, and it turned out that it was the centre speaker on the tv (surround sound). Normally speach (if properly formed and if the character is centered) will predominantly come through the centre speaker. If this is not set correctly then the music would overpower the speach. I suppose this could also happen if choosing "surround sound" mode when using 2 speakers....

Yup
Rob is correct.
Check your soundcard settings. I have this issue sometimes when playing videos in VLC media player.
Re: Odd sound issue in some games
See if the games you're playing have a dynamic range option in the audio settings. They can often produce very odd results with headphones. In ME3 for example it can make gunshots, talking and nearly everything else almost silent while leaving the jump gates painfully loud.
Re: Odd sound issue in some games
Thanks guys I did find an option to change to headphones in the sound card options :) Will just have to change between 5.1 speakers and headphones if i'm playing a game late !!
