Re: Itunes (I know, I know)
Are the files content downloaded from the apple store.
I presume you are using 2 apple ids?
Re: Itunes (I know, I know)
Yeah 2 ids, but not much is downloaded from the apple store. Mostly ripped CDs of my own library (desktop) and assorted download music (macbook pro). As for the IDs I believe I can authorise them on more than one pc so that shouldn't be too hard.
Anyone used any of the library sync/merge software that google throws up?

Podcasts etc and all.
If I have to re-add everything I will but as we know, Itunes is slow and annoying.
If same apple user then only stuff you've added outside of itunes store will be missing, so copy it back from your original source like you did the first time. Podcasts etc will be on both if you set them up through itunes store.
If different apple users then you can share a limited amount across your network, but not sure you can share all purchases.
Re: Itunes (I know, I know)
In theory its a simple case of bunging all the music from your My Music/iTunes folders onto a memory stick from one machine and pointing the second machines iTunes to the memory stick and let it copy the music over. Its slightly more complicated if you have Apple devices linked to those libraries (ipods, iphones etc).
You can also the Home Sharing function to stream music from one machine to another but that requires them both to be on. It also only uses one Apple ID.
