I have a recent version of nero for win xp and a lite on dvd writer an 812S. I am having real problems trying to selct the correct burning speeds for my discs, cd's or dvd's. I cannot burn anything at more than x6 which is really annoynig me. Can anyone let me know what could be preventing me from burning any faster.

u got udma enabled. wnixp should have set it by itself. worth a check
also u u do know theres a setting to choose what u are burning dvd's or cd;s. as if u had it set to dvd and were trying to burn cd;s u would only get a x6 or whatever the fastest dvd burn is on your drive

under your hardware settings, ide adapters, secondary ide channels.
but i am guessing its the other thing i mentioned. u using nero 6?
it cannot be the other thing you mentioned as the speed box is greyed out and i do know that i have to slect cd or dvd.

and u have a fast blank cdr in the machine ready?
open the nero installation folder, and copy the file named WNASPI32.DLL, then paste this file to the c:/windows.system32 folder, it will ask you to overite, make a back upof original aspi file and overite with this one
