Monitor staying on standby / off

    Hi all,

The issue I have is that the first time I turn my PC on everyday the monitor stays on stand-by / off. I then have to hold the power button in and turn the PC off then back on again and everything then works fine.

I've never heard of this issue before and found it very strange, anyone have any ideas on what this could be and how to resolve it?

    Some specs:

    Monitor: Dell U2410

    Mobo: ASUS P8Z77-V
GPU: EVGA 560Ti 2WIN - connected via DVI

    Thanks for any help!

Sounds like it may be a power issue. Have you recently added any components to the system? Go through the system to make sure all power cables have been connected throughout.

Re: Monitor staying on standby / off

Have you tried connecting your monitor using different methods such as d-sub or hdmi ? it wouldnt rule out the possiblity of a problem with the monitor or graphics card itself but it would let you know if its due to the cable your using.. because it sounds more like a signal problem since the monitor is actually powered up but staying in standby.

I would take the graphics card out and clean / reseat it.. including power cables related to it, test all the output ports i possibly could for example D-Sub/DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort and if that didnt solve anything i'd use a cheap/old graphics card for further testing.. if you have one lying around spare that is (or borrow one) onboard video would work just as well if you have that, then you'd be able to work out exactly which part was causing the problem.. after the swap if it still happened its the monitor playing up, if not its the graphics card..
