Your system is overclocked, are you sure it's stable? Run Prime95 for a few hours and see if you get any fatal errors. Or try clocking back to it's default values and see if it freezes again.

Dont have a network connected do you? I vaguely remember a setting where OS searches for a DNS server on your local network (using a broadcast).

USB modems can interrupt the CPU if the driver/software associated with it is not setup correctly or corrupt.
Try uninstalling your firewall and see if the freezing remains (don't just turn it off, uninstall it completely).

Possibly not, just stick to trusted sites and general browsing to wait to see if your computer freezes, if it does, then you know it's not your firewall that's causing the problem, it's up to you to take the risk.
