Look in Tools, Security - you may have IE set to disable file downloads. Under Custom Level look for the Downloads section.

Even the free version of Zonealarm provides significantly more information and more user-friendly granular control of rules etc.

Zonealarm's perfectly acceptable as a firewall; I know that a lot of people on here use Sygate in preference. AdAware is a useful tool provided you keep the reference file up to date. Beyond that, an up to date virus scanner; AVG Free Edition from http://www.grisoft.com is effective and free, but needs to be kept up to date.

EXPLORE 32 sounds like a virus or adware, depends what you have installed.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

Depends what you have running mate. It should tell you the name of the program, e.g.:
firefox.exe is trying to gain access to the net.
If you dunno what it is, open up search and search for the filename, it should show you which directory it is in, so you should know what it is!
Hope that helps a bit mate

Explorer 32 is the windows explorer I think
Yeah, I remember it asking for permission on my machine, to access an ftp site which was in my network places.
