Re: Restart/BSOD problems :/
Yeah, you did something to the RAM in the machine or the mobo memory slots. Run Memtest to check.
Re: Restart/BSOD problems :/
OK, I think this may be because I haven't upgraded my Win8 release preview yet.
It started happening after the RP expired. It warned me once, but then came up with an error message when I tried to connect to the update service. It hasn't given me any reminder since.
The crashes happen after exactly 2 hours, I switched on a 11:27, crashes happened at 13:27, 15:27, and just now at 17:28.
But surely this can't be the intended way to get people to upgrade? It seems a little aggressive? I haven't been getting any messages prompting me to upgrade since the first one which failed. Perhaps it is the attempt to upgrade that is causing the crash?
Re: Restart/BSOD problems :/
Take a look in the event logs, if anythings showing up the problem would be there :)

That's very odd. I really can't see M$ crashing you; OTOH they may be doing something after 2 hours that causes a crash on your PC. Are you sure you don't have malware?
Re: Restart/BSOD problems :/
Well just happened again, exactly 2 hours later.
Had a look in the event viewer, nothing leapt out at me. There's a flurry of activity when it restarts, but nothing before that. Windows doesn't seem to realise it has crashed, it just starts normally, no "your system has just recovered" or anything.
Windows Defender isn't reporting any malware or viruses, but that doesn't mean I don't have any I guess.
Re: Restart/BSOD problems :/
Supposedly, Windows will restart every 1 hour after the license expires:

However, your computer is crashing every 2 hours,so I don't know if they are connected.
Re: Restart/BSOD problems :/
Mine just says "Windows can't activate right now, Please try again later."
I did a full scan on windows defender and it did find some threats, hopefully they are gone now.
So much for real time protection.

Have you tried re-entering your product key?
Open a command prompt (run as administrator):
slmgr -upk
slmgr -ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx (where xxxxx-xx ..... is your product key)
slmgr -ato
