    Touchpad has stopped working

The synaptics touchpad on my Lenovo N100 has suddenly stopped working.
It was working yesterday, then following a resume this evening it isn't responding.
    I've rebooted, un-installed and re-installed the drivers.
Tried safe mode for default windows drivers
Pulled the keyboard and unplugged, cleaned the contacts, and plugged in the touchpad ribbon cables and nothing seems to have helped.
Device manager reports"This device cannot start. (Code 10)" and booting is taking longer then normal (I'm guessing some sort of timeout is occuring)

Does anyone have any suggestions of what might have happened and how I can fix it?

    Re: Touchpad has stopped working

    Quick update:

I noticed in the BIOS that a couple of the values where corrupt so I figured I'd update the BIOS and see if that helped matters and wouldn't you know it... after battling to update the bios (no win7 64bit Phoenix flash utility, had to revert to Hiren's boot usb and mini XP)... it works!!!
