Interesting double sleep problem with my laptop

When put to "sleep" and then awakened. My laptop will get to the login screen and then before you have time to login decide it is still sleepy and go back to sleep.

This always happens no matter if you sleep my closing the lid or telling it to sleep via command.

The weird thing is it always happens just once (i.e. the second time you wake it. It awakes as normal.

Everything else about the laptop is fine.

If it helps the lappy is a acer aspire 5750g 2011 sandybridge model. Though I'm pretty sure it has nothing todo with parts. I think it's either software or some power fault?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

I have read one page that suggests that there is a new BIOS release for that very laptop and it may fix the issue. I would try that first of all as the BIOS has just as much to do with sleeping as Windows.

Got anything else plugged into the laptop? drives/usb devices?

Also did you upgrade from Windows 7?

Try disabling stuff like lid-close sleep, wake with mouse, wake with USB, etc, and see if any of those have an impact.

Re: Interesting double sleep problem with my laptop

is this a known windows 8 bug then?

yes normally the laptop has an xbox controller, second keyboard, mouse, usb hub and hdmi out going to a full HD monitor. sadly though, it still happens when i'm on the go (i.e. when none of these are plugged in).

oh and yes upgraded from windows 8 when it came out. This problem did not happen immediately after upgrading. Started happening about christmas time.

Its got to the point where I never send it to sleep. As its as quick (and less annoying) to hibernate it instead.
