Unable to kill virus
Hello,
I'm having a problem with 2 processes I strongly suspect of being a virus:
nvvsvc.exe
nvxdsync.exe
I can't terminate both processes and I get no screen with properties about those processes when I ask about it. I had AVG installed but it could not find a virus. I had installed Avast after I suspected of being infected, but the scan crashes after some time and does not finish (and my computer crashes sometimes).
What can I do to get rid of it? I really don't know what to do anymore.. My knowledge about computers isn't really good, so detailed step-by-step info would be really appreciated.
Thanks a lot!

Re: Unable to kill virus
They're nVidia processes, for your graphics.
Why do you think they're viruses?

Re: Unable to kill virus
I opened the task manager and clicked to get the properties of the process. Normally it should give you a new window with the properties of the process and the location, but now it the option 'properties' does not work. Also when I try to terminate the process it gives me an error message with 'access denied'.
I have now de-installed nVidea to see what happens. Now these two processes don't show up anymore in the task manager, but the process:
csrss.exe
has now the same problem (unable to get properties and therefore location from which the process is run) which it did not have before de-installing nVidia, which would confirm my suspicion that a virus is running a process giving it a name resembling a legitimate process.

So.. I tried to de-install AVG and install it again. Installing AVG now gives a runtime error so it can't be installed.. I really can't imagine the problem is anything else than a virus

Re: Unable to kill virus
You need a boot AVG disk I think. that runs in linux.

Re: Unable to kill virus
csrss.exe is part of Windows.
Seriously, looking through your task manager process list is no way to hunt down viruses.
For what it's worth, I have both of the nVidia processes. They both have no properties. They both can't be ended. That doesn't make them viruses.
You need to find a way of running an anti-virus check. Try installing some alternative software, like http://www.malwarebytes.org/
If you can't get any software to install, try this one online: http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeuse...ns/activescan/
If that still doesn't work, you could try http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ or http://www.ubcd4win.com/ - both are discs which have multiple virus checkers on them. You boot from them into the disc's Operating System, rather than booting into your normal windows, so any virus won't affect them.

Re: Unable to kill virus
Thank you very much for the help. I can't install/run both virus scanners you mentioned, so I'm trying the boot-cd solution now.

Re: Unable to kill virus
Think you need to explain why you think these processes are harmful.
