    Need printer help

    Recently i bought a new computer which i now have fully working with all your kind help and suggestions which i am greatful for. I recently connected my old printer into the parallel port on the back of my pc and nothing happened. Windows XP Proffessional did not detect anything or recognise the printer. However when i went to print a document it showed the printer, yet it would not print, i just keep getting an error message every time i print something.
    System specs:
    Amd athlon 64 3400+
    512mb Mushkin RAM pc3200 ddr400
    ati radeon x800 pro
    asus k8v motherboard
    windows xp pro
    120 gb western digital hard drive
    Printer = HP PSC500 (printer/scanner/copier)

    Thanks for any help in advance

    The PSC500 is supported Nativeley by Windows XP, all you should have to do is plug it in. If your using USB Win XP will pick it up automatically and once it has installed the required drivers automatically the PC will go "dong-ding" out of your speaker.

    As its paralel it may nmot have auto installed, you may need to go to "Start >> Settings >> Printers and Faxes". and click on "Add Printer", click Next, then make sure "Automatically detect my plug and play printer" is ticked and click next. it should go through the motions and then you will have a PSC500 listed in "Start >> Settings >> Printers and Faxes"

    That should work.
