    Double checking security

Right, My Dad has gone off to the states on a business trip, and took my Mums netbook with him to watch films and the such. Stupidly, he put it in his hold luggage, and it didnt make it from Amsterdam to San Fransisco. Theyre both concerned about them using the data on it to steal info and such, so I've had them changing passwords for email, amazon, vodaphone and the like, anything that has or had a credit card linked to it. Any other steps I should take that I've missed?

    Re: Double checking security

They didn't save any passwords or anything like that in plaintext on the laptop I presume?

I'm just wondering about the verified by VISA password system on the web.

I know this sounds ridiculous, but I've seen people keep their card number, security number and password word documents before... for convenience.

It's a hindsight thing, but consider installing Prey on your devices: http://preyproject.com/

    Re: Double checking security

@Snootyjim Theyre not that bad, thankfully, though mum has them written down on a bit of paper in the filing cabinet. Though if anyone gets to those, weve got bigger problems than just account safety
@Agent Cheers, Ill see if I can convice them to let me put it on their next laptop, should put their mind at rest if it happens again.
