HDD Help! Please!
Guys and Gals,
I have a problem when installing windows xp. The installation starts off fine, I can format the hard drive then the relevant files get installed onto it. The computer then reboots and I get a "error loading operating system" error.
I have tried fdisk /mbr to fix this but to no avail. I have tried using the xp repair console to fix the master boot record but this also doesn't work :( (when i use the command to create a new mbr it says the old one is corrupt and then I say to install a new one but this makes no difference)
The drive by the way is a maxtor 40gb, I would use the maxtor utility to low level format it, but I do not have a floppy drive.
Please does anyone have any suggestions??

Have a look at www.maxtor.com - worldwide support- maxblast answers try their own utility for formatting your drive (Maxblast). youcan download this to a hard drive I am presuming you have access to another computer this usually works when all other methods fail, worth a try :)
