Re: Gaming Rig HEATING up, help please before it blows!
Personal preference, PSU will run the fans at their top rated speed all the time be it 300-400rpm, plugging into the motherboard allows you to set profiles depending if you want quiet, gaming, full speed etc and control each fan.
Re: Gaming Rig HEATING up, help please before it blows!
Hay khalz1, glad to see you took the side off, So before you were getting a max of 78 @ 3.8ghz and now getting a max of 64 @ 4.1ghz. Result, Also take note, that your cpu fan is now spinning nearly 200rpm slower. So, what you need to do now is think about changing your fans for ones with more cfm's as it looks as if the front fan is not supplying enough air for your cpu and gpu and your rear isn't exhausting the amount of air your cpu cooler is trying to push. What is happening is that the air is recirculating within your case like an oven rather than flowing through . If you have the money then get a pair of Corsair AF quiet edition 120 fans for intake and a Corsair PWM Air Series SP120 Quiet Edition for an exhaust so it spins up and down as required. As mentioned, I too think your fan is the wrong way around, try the other way as the air will hit the heat pipe directly as opposed to dragging the air around.
Re: Gaming Rig HEATING up, help please before it blows!
As mentioned - the fan on the CPU cooler should be on the opposite side, sucking in cold air from the intake fan at the front, and pushing it through the heatsink to the exhaust fan. Check all fans are pushing air in the correct direction so it's coming from the front and being pushed straight through and out the back. If just one fan is facing the wrong way it can really mess up the airflow. Also, you only have 2 case fans? That's gonna be the main cause here. Upgrading to high quality fans might mean your computer is quieter. But I doubt you'll gain much in the way of airflow. I would look for other ways to solve it first. I can see a couple spots where you could bodge some fans in.. You'll be disappointed with the results if all you do is fork out for some pricey fans. You could always buy one of those massive fans and cut out a hole in the side panel for it. Not the best for airflow though. And personally I'd sooner just get a case with better cooling options.

that cooler fan on the evo can only go that way, the ram is in the way if i swop, tried it! damn lol
ok im gonna go for these corsair fans on your advice maybe, im hoping it resolves it. Is there any other place i can stick a silent fan in there, dont know maybe make some holes somewhere myself, side panel, top area.??

what case do you recommend, that has good cooling and silent - and what spots in the case?

Look at the fan. It should have an arrow indicating the direction of airflow. Make sure this is pointing towards the back of the case, so it goes with the case airflow and not against it.
Re: Gaming Rig HEATING up, help please before it blows!
Bump for some cases please - Need to be similar dimensions as the silencio 550 - the usbs, audio ports on the top not front, usb 3.0 at front and SILENT as possible
i think i MAY just change the case, peed off now!
im thinking them corsair fans will stand me about £40 - might aswell return this case and get a better one with appropriate cooling, ideas, advice?
NEED to weigh up my options

ok, ill double check, pretty sure that cooler fan only clips on one way

Yeh do this. If it's fighting against the front to back airflow of the case fans (assuming they're facing the right way) then, well that's not good at all :P

I actually don't know much about what cases are good these days. I'm still using my Coolermaster Cosmos which I bought back in 2006/7! Haven't even looked into any for a while lol.. But man, there are loads of people here who will know. Maybe edit the thread title or the opening post so that newcomers to the thread, or people that haven't kept up with every post know what you're looking for now ;)
Re: Gaming Rig HEATING up, help please before it blows!
Hay just looked at your photo, The Cpu fan is the wrong way around, all the fans in your case should be facing the same way around. your rear exhaust is trying to escape the hot air and your cpu cooler is trying to push the air back into the case. Thats why its spinning so fast. Second, according to your asus manual, if you are using 1 - 2 memory modules, you should use the blue slots as they say it gives you the best performance which should allow you to put the fan on the other side.

i cant get that cpu cooler on the other side even with ram on blue slots, too thick
are you saying may case fans are on the wrong way round then, they came preinstalled havent moved them
what dyu think tecnhodean? change my case or just fans?

No, case fans will be the right way, your CPU fan is more likely to be the wrong way. But that can cause problems with RAM clearance if you have the wrong combination of HSF and RAM. Very surprised it's still an issue if using the more distant RAM slots though. You could probably re-wire the fan so it works in reverse, but not sure how good that will be for the bearing (and obviously blade design will have been optimised for a particular direction).

i will try again when i get home, but that cooler fan is way too thick, my ram heatsinks are high aswell..

Do you need to mount the whole HSF 180 degrees around? Has it been designed so that in one direction the fan doesn't stick out as much?
Re: Gaming Rig HEATING up, help please before it blows!
Okay look at your case fans, you will notice that the structure of the fans is facing the same way, now look at your cpu fan you will notice you have the structure of the fan is facing the opposite way around. You need to take the fan off, unscrew the mounts on the fan and place on the opposite side of the fan and put back on. All the structures of the fans should be facing the rear of the case.

but i will need to keep the cooling fan on same side not facing ram side
also u think that a new case or change fans will sort this heat build up? and obviously change the cooler around
