Just built my new computer and have not been able to get any audio from it. My mobo is the MSI Z87 G43 and the GPU is a Zotac GTX 660 Ti Extreme Edition and running on Windows 8 64 bit. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Realtek HD audio drivers multiple times and have had no luck. Everytime it kept saying that no speaker or headphone is plugged in and the volume icon on the bottom right of the task bar just had the speaker with a red cross on it. I've tried plugging my headphones in both the front audio ports on my case and on the rear IO on the mobo. I thought it might have been a conflict between the nvidia HD audio but I've tried disabling that and yet no luck either. I've also looked in the sound folder in the control panel and could not set a default device either as the four nvidia devices and Realtek audio were showing as unplugged.
I managed to get the computer to register that there is audio, after going into the Realtek sound manager and disabling the front jack detection but still getting no sound from the jacks, as I can see the green volume going up and down in the volume setting from the bottom right task bar, and the realtek hd audio is set as my default device now. I've also plugged in a usb sound card and audio works fine through that no problems.
Really not sure how to fix this problem, spent many hours trying to find a solution and have yet to find one. Any help would be much appreciated.
