Can no longer select 1920 x 1080? Display just turns off?

Can anyone help? Windows seemed to do some sort of update and after reboot it now only displays at 1024 x 768. If I change to 1920 the display just loses signal. Device Manager shows no problems. Can anyone help?

    Thanks!

Driver issue? I'd grab the latest official driver compatible with your graphics card from NVidia or AMD, uninstall the current one then install the new one.

Is this for a monitor or a laptop? If a monitor make sure the monitor cable is plugged in properly at both ends. No joke, I've messed around for hours wondering why I can't select the 1440x900 resolution before, trying to reinstall this, force that, but the issue was the cable not being plugged in properly.

Thanks guys. I spent quite a bit of time this afternoon fiddling and it turns out it only works when I change resolution under the Intel software and not just under the screen resolution option in windows. Weird huh?
