    Budget PC for under £400?

Hi, my brother is going to buy a new PC which he'll be using for the internet and customising his music recordings(adding effects to guitars etc.). Unfortunetly he's on a pretty tight budget(trying to keep it under £400) and he did actually have PC parts on order at Ebuyer but the courier company(Initial City Link) was pissing around so he canceled it. Now he needs to buy one from somewhere else, he's considering going with PC World(aaaaarrrrrgggghhh) which is obviously no good as we've experienced from a previously purchased PC from them.

Anyone have any idea where to buy the parts or a full system from? Obviously it can't be too espensive, though I already have a spare Asus A7N8X Deluxe, 512MB TwinMOS ram and a GF4 Ti4200.

    Thanks for any help.

With pcworld it is simple.. don't buy anything with the patriot brand on it... eMachines are very good systems, and if it were to go wrong (the relative quietness on the emachines support lines suggests they dont very often).. really, they are good systems for what they are.. but dont let me try and tell you one thing if you already have your mind made up, it's not worth that.. I can only speak as one of the poor sods who sits with the company support intranet at my disposal.

Well, he just phoned me saying that he bought a PC from PC World, it's a EI Systems PC, never heard of them myself personally. Are they any good?

Ignore the price tag on the site, he actually got it for £430 .

As long as he doesn't plan to do anything exciting on it, it should be fine. However for the music stuff he may need a better sound card.
