    Urgent Bios Rom Checksum error

hi guys, i got a big problem, i have an asus a7v8x-x mobo, im running windows xp home sp2, 1 gig pc 2700 ram. i was playing the sims 2 just now, my pc froze, so i restarted and i wasnt getting any response from my mobo, the lights were all on, but no beeps on boot up, and my vga output was dead. the card is an ati allinwonder 9800. i took this out, put in my old geforce 3, and he presto...it booted up, but now it boots for a second, then says bios checksum error, i havent a clue what to do.

i have pulled the power cord out the back, removed the battery, shorted the cmos for 3 secs, replaced the battery and powered up, but it doesnt change.....im bricking myself now, anyone know what i could do please?????

What did you do to sort it?

I've got a P4C800 that died in similar circumstances, but won't come back to life.

    what i did

i stuck a windows me bootdisk in, to get to dos. i went to the asus website, downloaded the aflash.exe program file to flash the bios...i got the latest bios, in my case a7v8xx13.awd, stuck them both on a floppy, after i got to dos, i ran aflash, give the program the path to my new bios, flashed it, restarted the machine, and everything started back up like normal.

    hope that helps

I'll need to have another go with my board. I have an old agp card and w98 boot disk lying around. They might work.

    Cheers.
