Battlefield 1942 can't play online

Hi all wonder if anyone can help, i have BF1942 and the latest patch installed but i cant play online. It works fine offline but as soon as i try to join a game after loading the server it Crashs to the Desk top ??. My specs are 2400xp, 512ram, HD60gb(40gb free space),Geforce FX5200 (gainward), OS XP Home Edition, and Broadband. I have sygate personal firewall plus AVG anti virus (the free one),my system is not overclocked. I have no problem playing other online games and in fact can play Battlefield Vietnam without any probs, any help would be most appreciated thanks in advance.

CD-key problem?
Make sure yours is valid and legal....

i dont think having a cd problem would make it crash to the desktop.
have you made sure that your firewalll is configured to let BF1942 access the internet?
or maybe you could try it without having the FW and anti virus on?

you know, its strange I had the same problem.

I ended up upgrading all my components, it would play SP fine but on MP it crashed to desktop. If I remember what caused it I will post.

The CD Key is Legal, i'am able to get into a game sometimes for a couple seconds or so then it crash's out to the Desktop, other times it will crash to the desk top as soon as the server has loaded. as far as i'am aware the firewall is set correctly and i've also tryed it with sygate firewall and windows Firewall turned off and the AV off aswell. Plus i've turned all the settings in the game to there lowest values but still can't Play it, I have been unable to Register the game i get the following message when i try (Trouble sending registration information you need an exsternal connection to send information) any ideas what the problem is ???, any help would be most appreicated thanks in addvance
