Memory underclocked, showing 1333Mhz instead of 1600Mhz

I recently built a new system which is running fine but my memory is showing 1333Mhz in the bios.

I have a MSI H87-G41 motherboard with Crucial 'Ballistix Tactical' memory. Is there any trick to getting it to read the correct clock speed?

This is the memory and motherboard:

Open the bios and make sure xmp is enabled, then it should set automatically, or you may have to manually select it, probably in the overclock settings bit

I hadn't heard of XMP before but it sounds like it would do the trick. Unfortunately for some reason the option is greyed out in the bios. I realised though that when I took one of the settings (GT frequency I think) out of auto, it allowed me to adjust the RAM frequency which had previously been greyed out. I'm now running at 1600 so I'm happy!

It did the same for me, I manually set the frequency on my ASUS mobo
