as the title suggests, whats the best free disk defragmenter utility for win xp because the standard xp doesnt seem to be doing a good job. Thanks,John.

I've used O&O free version in the past. Don't know if it's still around.

just doesnt seem to make much of a difference at all, i just wanted to try a different one to see whether the results were better.

The defrag utility in XP does leave big chunks of data separated over the disc I find, - O&O *moves* everything so that it's one contiguous block of data. I haven't used it for a while either so not sure whether you can get hold of it for free anymore...

Disk keep is not too bad, still won't move the mft to the front of the drive for me.

Migth give O&O a go to see how it goes.
