strange Monitor resolution poor output. (with pics)

    Hi,

Ok another problem with the new PC. 780 graphics card and iiyama 27 inch display. tried both the DVI outputs but on both outputs when i set the native resolution (2560x1440) i get a very poor image, text is unreadable and looks missing! although at this res games play perfectly. when i down the res to 2048 x1152 image is great.

First shot at native res, unreadable, second shot lower res clear pic
    see screen shots

i know this might sound dumb but have you been through the display set up wizard? I think there are settings for font display and text resolution.

(right click on desktop, screen resolution, at the bottom click link to make text and other items larger or smaller,

in the window that opens are choices for Adjust cleartype text, set custom DPI, and default text sizes. also change display settings

another thing to try is the built-in hardware of the monitor itself. What is it set to?

Ta, I will give this a go tonight. It's odd, I took a screenshot using print screen then pasted it when I changed the res down and it displayed perfectly. I wish it was truly plug and play!!

    Any other suggestions?

Re: strange Monitor resolution poor output. (with pics)

Have you tried a different cable? Could be that the cable isn't up to standard or has been damaged/corroded so it isn't sending the higher resolution output properly, or even that it's a single link cable, which I think will struggle to send enough data for the higher resolution.

It's also worth flipping through the monitor's menu options to see if there's anything useful - if it has an auto-setup feature try using that after resetting the resolution.
