    Recovering files

I have an issue with some audio files I need to recover.

I record audio using a recording device onto SD Card and some (nearly half) of my recordings from yesterday are missing. They did record as I was watching them the whole time, and the recordings are missing from the sequential numbering of the files, which tells me they did record.

I've tried running recovery utilities against the SD card which finds several files, but none from yesterday, ones from pre-format. This makes me think the files may not have been closed properly. I record in BWAV so if this is the case they should just need finding and closing.

Any suggestions how to find if this is the case ? or find the files ?

I have PC and Mac available, no LINUX.

Used this v successfully to recover MP3 and JPGs off a corrupted SD card. And it's free.

@Active Undelete has always been excellent for me, but not free. Demo will recover some files though.

It deals with everything from corrupt, formatted and even bad RAID arrays.

    Superb !!

Thanks - i've tried many recovery apps today with little to no success, getting files but not in the correct format, but running this one and telling it to treat the card as a damaged partition it enabled full recovery

Now the manufacturer to find out why it messed up in the 1st place.

I'd also recommend http://www.piriform.com/recuva - it's also free and has saved family member's files in the past.

Same here. Got to say, encountered some storages and files which Recuva wasn't able to even see, let alone recover.
Will post the name of the alternative program I had to use when next time I am at my PC.

EDIT: The alternative software is Power Data Recovery. It is a software but with it I was able to recover files which weren't available with Recuva. Or a number of freeware.

Pretty much the same. I've had a real nightmare looking for a reliable program in the past. The internet is filled with dodgy file recovery software... Just to note, MiniTools which the OP used has a free edition which allows you to recover 1GB of data.

Unless you have a couple of cheeky files lost, 1GB will not cut it.
