Can I use SATA and IDE HDDs together?

Any ideas? I plugged in an older HDD and the bios just completely ignored it. I gave up quickly, but I'm sure it should be possible....shouldn't it?

I had an old drive that had a windows partition (c) and another (d) on it that i wanted to use as a backup in my system. I'm running 2x sata 160 gig raid 0 plus an 80gig ide pata.

I had the same problem i.e on bootup everything went fine until windows loadup screen.

The solution I found was to boot up in safe mode and go to manage disks, it should be there. If not try auto detecting it in your'e bios.

I heard that Tekheads are taking back a bunch of SATA drives that won't boot XP - apparently drives of 160Gb+ are causing all sorts of probs.

Iranu & CJ - what mobos? Wonder if there's a common link. My bro' had probs with his MSI Neo2 Plat (939).
