Get home - it's cheaper. As far as I know the two aren't that much different.
Also, I'm pretty sure the prices are the same almost everywhere - I think M$ made it that way or something (could be wrong - kelkoo/pricerunner it and find out :)).
look for OEM version of home should be around £60 I think. You might need to buy a bit of hardwrae at the same time, some places are ment to count a floppy cable as hardware.
Both OS have the same infrastructure and basic coding. The only difference between them is that Pro allows you to connect to a domain (only workgroups allowed in home) and some of the more advanced functions (either remote desktop or remote assistance) are not available.
Home is usually more than sufficient for anyone at home. :)
around 50 pounds oem of E-buyer
Pro also has Personal IIS as well. If you dont know what that is, you dont need it :)
Stick with Home for an average user - he wont need to use group policy editing and the other bits Pro has.
win xp home only lets you have 5 users, i think!!but should be fine for home useQuote:

XP home is £60.51 from OCUK, and XP pro is £96.41
its not much more money for a superior version of the OS.
look here for all the reasons why :)

if your a casual computer user then get home, but if your a geek or have geeky friends then get pro - aside from the many practical benefits of having pro its also just unexplainably cooler... or at least change the bootscreen so that it says pro :P
