Unable to make one display my main monitor for more than 10-15 seconds.

    Hey all.

I've recently developed a very annoying problem with my computer.
I'm running Windows 7 - 64bit using a AMD 8120 Bulldozer CPU and an AMD 6970 graphics card.
I have my monitor (ASUS VE247H) connected to the 6970 via DVI.
I also have my TV (Sony Bravia) connected to the 6970 via HDMI.

The problem I'm having is that if I set the monitor to my main display it will wait about 10-15 seconds and then revert back to the Sony Bravia TV being the main display.
This is a problem as the TV is about 3 meters away from my desk and while suitable for watching videos on completely unsuitable for reading text.
I have tried reseating the graphics card, completely removing all the graphics drivers and reinstalling, even tried the latest beta AMD drivers but no fix.
I have also tried both using the default Window screen resolution options window to change the default display and the one in Cataclyst Control Centre.

The only work around I've found so far is setting all my icon sizes up to massive and then just dragging every window I want to use over to my monitor but this means that if I want to watch something I have to keep unfullscreening the video to open new applications or programs. Equally whenever I try to load a fullscreen game it loads on the TV not my monitor and I am unable to permanently change this.

Any advice or help would be most appreciated.
    Thanks.

Odd. Suspect something with either software (the 15 sec delay before reverting back is coincidentally the same as the Windows apply-video-changes pop-up).

What happens when you change the default main screen in the drivers and press apply? Does it comply or says to bugger off or just crashes or ...?

Do you even see the pop-up window to confirm video changes?

    Hey there

Which Bravia TV do you have ?
What happens if you switch ON your PC with the TV disconnected and after Windows starts up, then connect it ?

I have a 9800GT powering a 17" Samsung via DVI and a 32" Samsung LED TV via HDMI
