    Question DVD drive not working.

I bought a new DVD Drive (read only), it's an Asus QuietTrack one, when i try and watch a dvd, different things happen depending on the app: powerdvd stops responding, media player 10: sound but no picture with a red ! by the chapter, nvdvd just doesn't play anything. I have tried having it on it's own ide channel, that doesn't work, tried changing the dma mode, uninstalled the driver, nothing worked. I then swapped it with the dvd drive on my other computer, the asus drive worked in the other computer, and the old liteon one worked in my main computer, with no problems. Why is the asus drive fine in my other computer but not in my main one? (I want the asus drive in my main computer because matches the front of my case (black) and the other one looks ugly

i changed both optical drives from ide channel 0 to 1 and it worked.

Edit: turns out it was a one off, now it's not working again
