    Doesn't sound like it was refurbished properly

    At least you know the issue though

    edit - I agree with Watercooled, as long as you don't do anything silly like run Furmark on it for long periods, you'll be fine. Most branded PSUs are under specced anyway.

    So if I drop the overclock on my CPU and take out my optical drive, you think I might be alright?

    Optical drives are quite low on power use, but it can't hurt.
    Dropping down the overclock will certainly help.

    Worst case is that the PSU will activate it's overcurrent protection and power off suddenly. It's not going to blow up and take everything with it. They are designed to do that (As long as it's not a no-name cheap chinese unit )

    Yeah they're a fairly respectable brand, and looking at the specs it seems to have plenty of power available on the 12v rail. But as above, it would probably be wise to back off on overclocks and avoid unusually heavy loads like stress testers.
