67.9 is not the throttle temperature, that's Tcase ie temp at the top of the headsreader. You need TJmax for the sensor temp which causes throttling, which in the case of the 980X I'm pretty sure is 101C.

Re: Cpu over temperature error press f1 to resume [HELP]

Downclock manually to see if the "real thermal output" is the culprit or something else misbehaving? Just an idea

Is the stick cooler when under load or running warm/hot to touch also?

Edit: the BIOS temps are curious, the mobo is rather cold(ish) but the CPU is still high. What cooler was on the CPU when you took the BIOS temp pic?

Re: Cpu over temperature error press f1 to resume [HELP]

Any Z77 mATX or ATX mono would do. Preferably with coolers on the power circuits. Socket 1155 only.

Wouldn't be better for you a Haswell or Haswell refresh setup? Similar price, newer tech.

Edit: what case you fancy cause the link appears to be dead.

Edit: how about i7-4770, i7-4790 or i7-4770k (can disregard overclock, you will gain only a few 100 extra Mhz on top of the Turbo and save on the mobo) for £238-240?

As for the mobo, AsRock H81M seems just fine for the non-K CPUs or Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3 for the K CPU (prices from £45 to £65).
