do u want pci e or agp?
    PCI-E cards:

6800LE (in the bargain basement) 150 quid?

if you can get it without VAT you can get this OcUK GeForce 6800 GTo 256MB DDR3
    for 210 pounds

6600GT although budget alot of reviews say it plays doom3 like a 6800gt, and if you get an SLI motheboard two of these can beat a 6800ultra...

    Gainward Ultra 1960 Goes Like Hell (6565) GeForce 6600 GT 128MB DDR3

    AGP cards:

Sapphire ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Ultimate 256MB
    on this page
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...00_Series.html

that will play hl2 in top as that is the card that hl2 was originally designed to be played with
    dunno about doom3?

if i were you i would go for a r9800xt if you can get them that cheap?
    have a search around
remember that nvidias generally play doom3 better and ATIs play hl2 better, although i think you can mod hl2 to run on nvidias perfectly.......

what other system specs do you have?

For that price, I'd go for a standard 6800 from nVidia. Below that, for around £150, is the 6600GT - AGP versions should be arriving any time now. ATi doesn't really have anything from the new generation to compete with the 6600GT - the X700 is only on PCI Express right now. The 9800 Pro is still a good card, but the 6600GT beats it most of the time, and only tends to lose when the resolution and AA is turned up.

In short, if you have £200, I would recommend a 6800.
