EMI buzzing in headphones
So I was one of the lucky few who won the fractal competion via hexus. I have since installed all of my components in the pc but I have noticed alot of buzzing in my earphones, particularly when the gpu is under a degree of load. Now my sound card (Sound Blaster Z) actually has a shield on top of the card itself which I would hope would stop this dead in its tracks but unfortunately it has not.
I am just curious about my options at the moment because this was never a problem in my old R4. If people have any experience with emi noise and possible solutions I would be greatful.
Re: EMI buzzing in headphones
The shield is almost entirely just for show, there's lots of other routes that interference could get in the way, especially if you're using front panel connectors (I don't know if you are or not, but connect direct the sound card in any case). You could try putting the graphics card and/or sound card in different slots to see if that helps. Try using different power connectors. Check the motherboard EMI is fitted correctly and you're not shorting any ports/the chassis isn't touching the mothboard.
Re: EMI buzzing in headphones
Well, somehow I completely missed the reply 5 days ago, sorry about that. As for what kalniel said, it's a very compact case (node 804) so there arent many options at the moment. I've got the cards as further away as possible, the sound card is powered through the pci lane so no need to change connectors and the headset is connected directly to the sound card via ports at the back. I might try and get some emi shielding next week to see if that will do the job, if not I might just go back to the define R4 since I had no buzzing when it was in there.
