I think there was some kind of windows driver update for my steelseries keyboard and now it only powers up for the login. The only other keyboard I have is my k750 and that no longer works either. Any help would be great.

sounds like a setting for USB in the BIOS. Try looking for any of those
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
I have a setting in my bios to allow usb devices like keyboards to initialize before the OS has loaded. The bios loads before anything else so I would be surprised if a Windows driver update did anything.
As has been said check out the bios and I appreciate the irony that you cannot get into the bios so maybe reset the bios if possible or try to use an old school ps/2 keyboard.

Also try the top left usb ports nearest the ps/2 ports, they usually work for keyboards/mice
Looks like you're on Win 8.1? You should be able to use the advanced power options to trigger a restart into the BIOS/UEFI - can't remember the exact details now but I know it's possible as I had to use it to get into the UEFI on my laptop a couple of times (it's down to fast boot settings, iirc).

Yes thats absolutely correct scaryjim, completely forgot about that :-
1. Press the Windows key + C to open your Charms..
2. Select the Settings charm, and then click Change PC settings..
3. Click Update and recovery.
4. Select Recovery and then click Restart now beneath Advanced Startup.
5. After a moment the Choose an Option screen will appear.
6. On the Choose an Option screen, select Troubleshoot, then click Advanced options.
7. Click UEFI Firmware Settings, then click Restart. Your system will restart and enter the UEFI.

Thanks for your comments. I don't have a advanced options to click in step 6. When i click on trouble shoot all I have is some special retart that says stuff like lower res etc but I don't see any uefi settings anywhere. I'll try different usb slots.
Your right, just looked and your board doesn't have that. However it should support usb devices from the off, I would reset the bios and see if that makes a difference as if you can't get to it from Windows nor a usb keyboard I don't know how else you would enter the bios.

is this PC booting up ok?
but with no USB action?
Or won't it boot?

The computer must be unplugged from the mains supply to ensure that the PSU standby supply isn't maintaining it.
This will remove ALL the BIOS settings, including system time, but the computer will boot into the BIOS set up screen, and you can reconfigure it from there.

Update. I moved the jumpers and still wasn't able to get in until i decided to remove all the plugged in cables to just the keyboard and voila it worked. So that issue was caused by me having too many things plugged in.
While looking up how to clear the cmos for my mobo I found out that I was supposed to clear it after I last updates my bios and doubt that I did it because I don't recall anything telling me to do so on the asus website. As a result my pc does feel a bit snappier. All that being said I didn't notice any usb power settings in the bios and its not like I've got every usb occupied on the back. I think i just have 5 including to devices that are separately wall powered.
