dodgy laptop cd drive?

hi - went to install a wireless card today and my cd autoloaded

it then crashed, to i reset my laptop, and it came on again

ever since - i havnt been able to load the cd with drivers on :( once my network was installed i wouldnt need a cd could get it all from my pc, so it seems to have died just at the wrong time, working for 10 more seconds and i would have been sorted

when i put a cd in it doesnt seem to read it, it comes up with 'disk is not formatted, would you like to format not ?' which is a bit silly as a cdrom cant format disks....

anyone had this problem ? any idea hows i could sort it ? i tried removing the card....restarting etc, but to no avail :(
