Go back to the 1008? The 1009 is beta and wouldnt even POST after changing the default BIOS settings for me. I dont have a Winchester but I still had the options listed.

Go to the Asus site and check the faq's, a lot of time there is information in there that will help. Check if you have the cd with the drivers on it around see if reloading this cd helps. Asus Crashfree bios2 should be on this cd, follow the instructions to recover bios. Also check the other sites like N Amercia and Gobal to see if there is additonal information you can use.

When all else fails, email Asus they usually respond back in about 48 hours.

I had this problem - I was sold a motherboard with the 1006A BIOS on it, and a A64 3500+ Winchester CPU. The BIOS refused to boot, or even to flash. After contacting ASUStek and Scan (who I bought the components off in a Mixit deal), the only solution they could think of was to put in a non-Winchester CPU and to flash the system using that. As they sold me the stuff in a bundle deal, they offered to flash the BIOS for me, at no charge. As the case was also faulty (the power button didn't work), I was told to just bring the entire assembled system in, and they'd sort it out for me. Great.

A long rant about customer service originally went here, but I deleted it on the grounds that it probably belongs somewhere else. Suffice it to say that I've now made 2 90 mile round trips to Bolton to try and get a working A8V Deluxe and A64 3500+ Winchester, and I've not yet been successful. The (working) Winchester processor that I left with them with the rest of my system a week ago has now bit the dust, and I, for one, am unconvinced that the A8V/Winchester combo was ever ready for prime time. Your mileage may vary.

ASUS have been brilliant through all this - all queries that I've sent them have been responded to within 4 (working) hours.
