Is this damage or what a 1150 socket looks like?

Hi all,

I took delivery of an ASUS Maximus VII Gene motherboard and having never had an Intel Motherboard before I was wondering what the pins are supposed to look like. I've googled images of the board and looked on the ASUS website and I can't see any that have this "look"...a couple are raised above the others and the other "non-normal" pins appear to be out of alignment with the others.

I would post pictures but I don't have permissions...have the rules changed here?

My 1150 didn't look like that anyway.

CPU cover was on...I opened the cover using the lever thingy...saw this odd looking shadow pattern. I haven't even opened the CPU box as the MB box wasn't sealed so I thought that I would check that first.

Looks like you have a couple of bent pins there to me, bit difficult to tell a the pics are out of focus but it dont look right to me. You could try & bend them back yourself but why bother as it's under warranty and you received it like that.

It's a shame...the first build I'm doing for myself in over 5 years and I get a dodgy motherboard...everybody else no problems at all.

I seem to get a broken item every time I buy something... It should stop me from buying so much, but it doesn't, and with this steam sale, my wallet is suffering quite a bit!

Update:

Kudos to Aria for a quick and painless RMA, I got a new mobo within a week, but with a -1 for unnecessary wrangling over return postage costs.

FYI. If you do RMA to Aria and will have to pay more than £10 postage...Contact them to arrange pickup. They have said that this is in their RMA information but I couldn't find it anywhere.

Not sealed? Was there evidence of a seal having been on it? Could be a previously returned item. But no matter as you have got it sorted.

Luckily you purchased from Aria and not scan......you'd probably have been told by scan that it was your fault and that you should have taken out scansure.

I have have bought 3-4 motherboards from Aria...none of which have had any sort of "official" seal on them and none of which looked as though they have had any sort of seal on them. To be honest it plays into my hands a bit as I always contact them to let them know that the box was unsealed and if damaged, as in this case, I can ask why they didn't Quality Control it when they had the chance.
