IDE Problem
This is quite a strange one for me.
I have 3 drives, a 30GB, a 40GB, and a 120GB. 30 is primary master. 40 is primary slave, 120 is connected via a PCI IDE Controller.
Everythings been fine, up until i come to format and re-install XP. Setup wont go far, and it was my 1st time using a slipstreamed XP SP2 disk, so i thought i had slipstreamed wrong.
I enter the BIOS for the 2nd time, so i can boot to my existing XP installation, and i spot this : -
Third Master bla bla bla 30
Third Slave bla bla bla 40
instantly i thought i may have wired up the drives wrong. I checked, and the optical drives were in IDE0 and the HDD's were in IDE1.
So i changed them round, checked jumpers etc, and its exactly the same. They still show as third ide's, and it seems whatever i can do isnt changing it.:inquisiti
Any Help greatly appreiciated :)

You could just take out the PCI IDE controller, so that only the 2 IDE channels show up.

Well, i thought when i can be bothered, ill take out all drives, optical and hard drives, apart from the primary hard drive.
I also thought, the PCI IDE controller might be causing it, but ive had it over a year and formatted more than 20 times since i bought it. So, if its the problem, why has it only just started playing up?
