Unhappy Display driver Stopped responding and has recovered?

I get this while playing. Just randomly during gameplay then the game closes. Only started to happen since updating to windows 10. I never had this problem while using windows 7 and 8.1.

I do have a pic of the notification but it wont let me post. It says Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernal. Taskbar cuts the rest off.

I have reinstalled the NVIDIA drivers as a clean install (Most Recent driver) and changed settings in the Nividia Control panel but nothing has changed i have also rolled back to an earlier driver.

    Please Help. Me >

Possible fix - works for some, not for others.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2665946 or https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/2665946 - whichever gets you there. And while not listed, it does apply to Win10 as well.
What's happening is your card is putting out too much info, and Windows is gagging on it, and spitting it right back to the driver/device - and you end up with a time-out that neither side recovers from very well. You'll find it happens most on games that use OGL.

What did work for me - I installed MSI Afterburner, and I limit the FPS to 60, period. Click on the RivaTunerStatistics part of the package (in your announcement area), highlight global, and you'll see a spot on the right where you can limit FPS.

I'm getting this same issue, hopefully the fix will work, I'll post here and let you all know once I've tried it later tonight, though I'm not sure that Afterburner would work for me, I get the error while I'm browsing the web using Edge and I think it has happened in Chrome as well.

Basically, you can't run windows 10 with an nvidia card.

Some work, some dont. It's a bit of a lottery so best avoided until they actually get it fixed.

I think you'll find there are millions of users who might disagree with that.....

If you have tried the hotfix driver (355.80) then you might want to try the 350.12 Windows 8.1 driver....

Also might be worth updating your chipset drivers and (re)installing the DirectX redist.

Re: Display driver Stopped responding and has recovered?

I've had this occasionally with previous driver versions on windows 7 and 8.1.

This error message can also indicate that there's something wrong with the gpu itself... probably just windows 10 ;P
