Pop code L23AY into maplin.co.uk and there's a universal one - still £50 though :(
How did it die? My laptop power supply was temperamental for a while and when i finally found out what the problem was i did some DIY and took it apart and fixed it. Im no electrician but it worked.
Turned where the cable met the PSU the wires inside were worn from movement, i had the bring the cable back about 3 inches and re-wire it. Sealed it back up with some tape and it works again.
But if you cant be bothered with all that, try ebay www.ebay.co.uk
same problem as yours but I only have 2cm to work with as theres some sort of inverter on the cable :(Quote:

Inverter? You sure it's not just some iron designed to smooth out noise?Quote:

are they necessary or can I cut past it?
I assume they are unnecessary as i have a few that are removable from the cable with a few clips. And seeing as many other PSUs dont have them, it must be ok
