    Unhappy New Stick Of Ram, Dead? Please Advise:-(

    Hey guys and gals,
    Recently ordered a 512Mb stick of Twinmos (with winbond) memory. Well it arrived so I thought I would install it. I already have 2 x 256Mb Winbond ram sticks so I have a slot free. I changed the settings in the bios to run by spd then turned my computer off and put the new ram in.

    Guess what, yep you got it no boot. I then reset the cmos and tried it again, still no joy. So I flipped the cmos battery out then just put the one new ram stick in. Still no boot. Put a stick of my old stuff in on its own and off it goes and boots first time.

    Pretty sure I have a dead stick just wanted to check with you guys, any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Leon

    If its seated correctly and you've cleared the BIOS just incase, then it does indeed sound dead.

    Sorry for hijacking, but the same thing just happened to me - bought two sticks and only one works.

    You did try it on its own, just to be sure, right?
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();
