Right now I have really had it - IRQ Less ARGH!

Ok so I am now on the forth install of Windows in a week and I am still no closer to get to the bottom of what seems to be an elusive error message.

Right, now I have looked through the past forum threads and I have tried everything but I thought I would put it out to the floor now for any ideas...I did not have this problem with my last kit, so I know its not the PSU or the graphics card....they are....

But I have just swapped out a load of my old pc and fitted the following...

Pentium 4 LGA775 3.2GHz Retail
2GB Geil PC3200 Ram
2 x 160GB Seagate Serial Drives
NEC 3520 DVD Burner
LiteOn 52x CDRW

I have this repeating problem, it either BSOD's or just completely reboots without warning, its usually when I am clicking on a link that it does it, using the newly replaced MX1000 Laser mouse.

Its really starting to get on my nerves, I did not have this problem before, but this is the first time I have run SP2 on my XP install, I did not have any problems with my last machine wehn I was running XP SP1, tbh I am seriously considering going back to the SP1 only, could it really be SP2 causing this? Anyone got any ideas?

When people see this error, they see the IRQ part and assume that this must be caused by an IRQ conflict. This is not the case. It is caused when a kernel mode process or, more commonly, a driver attempts to access memory that it shouldn’t. If you receive this error, you should be thinking about the drivers you have installed. Are they certified to work by Microsoft?

it can also be BIOS settings - use fail safe defaults, then if that works try optimised defualts, if that works, change the things you like on 1 at a time - its most likly to be Fast AGP write or something.

first try uninstalling the mouse and using a standard old ps2 one.

Stop error 0x0000000A (Stop 0x0A) indicates that there was an attempt in kernel mode to touch pageable memory at too high a process internal request level (IRQL). Typically, this error occurs when a driver uses an incorrect memory address. Other possible causes of this error are an incompatible device driver, a general hardware problem, and incompatible software.

Have you got drivers with your Laser Mouse? Bet it's them causing it, if you have a standard mouse (with a cable) try using that for a day instead. If that stops it then download the newest drivers and try again.

did it with my intelli mouse 1.0a on PS2 connection, I have not even installed the drviers for the MX1000, so its only seeing it as a standard mouse, don't want the extra crap logitech bundles with it...

I've had the same error message on ThorssonPC2 (Barton/NF7-S R2), which seems only to occur when playing games online. My gut feel is that something is getting 'stressed out' on the hardware side... possibly the memory, although it might be Windows related as there are one or two minor issues which will necessitate a new install of Windows when I can spare the time.
