    Schizophrenic DvD drive

It's playing with my head now

One minute it's appearing in My Computer.. then it's not there!
Then it's reading discs at a usual fast pace.. then it's taking 5 minutes!

Anyone know how can I tell what's causing the problems/how to fix them?

Sounds like a dodgy DVD drive or cable. Check and reset all power and cable connectors and try a new cable as well
