Internet working then not working?

my internet is been very ***, everything works (msn-vent-counterstrike)

but i open firefox, sometimes:

*it takes ages to connect to google(homepage)
*does not connect, but does connect second try

im using a router, connection was ok about a week ago, i have no idea what happened

I've not got any experience of Firefox, so all I can suggest atm is to check Firefox's internet settings... Is it trying to connect to a DNS or something? Perhaps slap it all back to auto and let it sort itself out?

Have you tried disconnecting the routers power for a few mins and also the cable modem for a few mins. When I was on NTL every few weeks it would suddenly just stop working and only way to sort it was powering down the both mentioned.

When powering back up do the modem first and make sure its fully connected (sequence of lights etc on the front then when thats done reconnect the router and restart the PC once you get the all go light on it.

Have you tried loading some of the preset rules that they have via the Firefox Forum site!

i reserted the router, i dont its got anything to do with tbh, i can download fine, use messenger fine, ply games online fine, its just the browsers.
its been doing it on both ie and firefox.

I am not to hot on all this to tell you the truth,its just that i tried Firefox before and the preset rules was the only way that i manage to configure it. But saying that i uninstalled it in the end! "Better the devil you know"!
