shuttle ak31(v3) mainboard HELP,please

Pleeaase HELP, i'm about ready to throw myself under a bus in frustration!!
Need help with driver/XP issues for Shuttle ak31 v3.
I am trying to upgrade my OS to XP (from ME), i have the CD but each time i try, the report states that there is a driver problem with the VIA master bus and some other VIA chipset issues that appear to be driver related.
This board was clearly intended to run with XP and my processor is AMD Athlon XP1500+. I have tried to communicate directly with the Shuttle manufacturer but as usual they have electronic reply systems that are useless and i can't get any help from them !! I want to then speed up (poss overclock), increase RAM and fit a better graphics card (a Direct X 9 compatible 128meg type) to improve gameplay but on a very tight budget !!
Before spending any money on those i need to get the thing to run XP.
This is really frustrating me, Please if anyone can point me in the right direction i will be eternally greatful.
ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE.

Do not upgrade from ME to XP, you need to do a CLEAN INSTALL of XP, if you run an upgrade its just going to be in a total mess anyway, ME had so many problems, just the memory hole being one of them, do yourself a favour and do a totally clean install then you will get no issues with VIA drivers.
