worst self publicity thread EVER !

    what relevance is the
    250g 10000rpm harddrive
    Vapourchill case
21 inch flat panal montior with ditigal input

to running the game ? just a poor chance to print your spec - which is certainly nice

i'm curious to what model harddisk is 250gig and runs at 10,000rpm, and what motherboard your using to support dual amd 64's ? I'm not a hardware buff and I'm interested

    Aren't 10000rpm drives normally SCSI?

10000rpm are normally scsi - or now sata, hence why I was asking, and as you pointed out the only boards I've seen are 940's, so that rules out the FX processesors. I've just got one of the 55's and I only found a 939 55 and even the 53 was 939. As I said I'm not a hardware buff

I'd be interested in hearing the response from bambie

No definitely not - your machine is way too fast and HL2 is only designed to run on normal desktop machines.

However, there is a way around this, but it means you will have to have 2 copies of HL2 running at the same time. Unfortunately that means 2 steam accounts aswell.

FX51's were all s940. 53's originally came in s940, but production changed to s939, so both sorts are available. 55's however are native s939 parts. FX's however will not perform in a dual setup as they dont have the correct archetecture, for that you need opteron 2* or 8* chips, which ahve the correct memory controllers afaik.
