    6600gt not seen in windows

bit of a problem here chaps...

that would ned some quick asisstance, as ive some PCW's to get playing, and a lan to go to

ok so my 6600gt just stops working after a power cut, not stops working, but doesnt work in windows, let me explain...

i boot up with it all, i see the post screen, the screen after that, i see the windows loading screen, i see the disk checking screen, everything is ok, but afer that i get no signal in windows, and the monitor turns off

ive tried resetting the cmos, and am currently on 'onboard' graphics (shudder)

    any ideas?

driver uninstall then reinstall be the way forward? or is that just pointless?

If it doesn't boot with another G/C, that suggests your hard drive has corrupted/busted. Try putting in the Windows XP installation CD, going through it until you see the partitioning. If things look a little wrong, like there are no partitions etc, then you can safely say the HDD works, but you've lost your installation of Windows.

USE A SURGE PROTECTOR. They are so cheap these days! I got a Belkin one, with 7 plus sockets, tv arial protector, RJ-45 protector, RJ-11 protector and gold plated cables AND an unlimited warranty, all for £14. It really is worth its weight in gold.

Can you boot into safe mode by pressing F8 on boot? Does this show any display in windows. Can you test a different monitor?

I think its your HDD m8, so I suggest you reinstall Windows. I'd be surprised if it is the Graphics Card
