Unhappy Random speaker interference exactly every 60 seconds

    Hi All,

Totally random issue here on my desktop: exactly every 60 seconds, I get a series of popping / clicking noises from my speakers. I've just moved my PC around in my office and reinstalled windows 10 64bit, and this had just started. I have no idea if this is a hardware or software issue, but the clicking lasts about a second and happens exactly every 60 seconds. It doesn't seem to be affected by the volume on my powered 7.1 speakers, which makes me think this is possibly happening after the powered amp (and not the PC / software directly) , but I'm kind of clutching at straws here....

Any ideas where to start looking at what is causing this?!

I can't think what it is being caused by, given that it is exactly 60 seconds between the interference! Cheers,

If you leave your mobile on the other side of the room, does it go away.

I just noticed that it doesn't happen when I'm in the BIOS either...

Re: Random speaker interference exactly every 60 seconds

It's not a free solution, but you *may* find this goes away with a decent sound card or even a USB one. If it doesn't work you could send it back to Amazon or whatever within 14 days?

As it's not happening in the BIOS it's likely to be EM interference from your GPU or similar, maybe your PSU is having an issue though. These are guesswork.

If it is a clean install of windows, have you checked that the correct drivers for the soundcard have been installed and not generic ones that may be causing issues.
Also can you swap the speakers with another set to see if the issues still occurs. also try the speakers on another source to see if it is the speakers.

Sounds like a period signal search by a wifi or bluetooth device.

Thank you - turns out it was the Wi-Fi card. Might have been searching for networks (connected via Ethernet cable) - disabled it and all ok! Phew!
