Lost Internet Connection
Can anyone suggest a solution to this prob?
Got two PCs both running XP Pro with SP2( one newly bought(host), the other reformatted HD and with a clean install of XP(client)), linked by crossover cable.
Ran the Network Setup Wizards on both - no probs, file sharing and internet access on both was fine for 2 days.
The local area connection icon on the task bar, of the client PC, then showed a "!" and said there was limited or no connectivity. "No" was the correct word. The client PC could not see the host and could not get access to the Internet.
Tried "Repair" - no use.
Swapped client machine for a laptop - laptop and host PC worked fine (file sharing and Internet for both)
Tried re-running Net Set Wizard on both and eventually got file sharing working for both, but still no access to the Internet for the client.
Any ideas please on how to get the internet back for the client PC?
Thanks

Have you checked IP details on the client PC... Have you set the Host up to be DHCP server to the client - may have expired it's leases and not refreshed correctly...?
Can you ping between machines etc..?

Sometimes when both machines have the same IP, they both cant get into the internet (happens with my network anyway). Change one of the computers IP and see if that fixes it.

Thanks guys. A friend in IT evenyually solved it - the client PCs didn't know the IPs of the DNS servers that the host PC was using, After doing ipconfig /all on the host and putting the DNS server IPs into the client, all was well.
Thanks
