The ram is 1GB(2x512mb) OCZ Low Latency Platinum series Dual Channel DDR400, which the motherboard recognizes properly, including the default cas of 2.5-2-2-5. The problem is not with the RAM. The bios isn't recognizing the CPU properly, which is a barton core AMD XP +3200. It shows it as an Athlon 1100 Mhz.

Considering I have tested both the RAM and CPU, separately and together in another system without a problem, it all points back to the problem with the bios. Both my systems are running the same chipset, the Nvidia Nforce 2 Ultra 400. Although the recommended list by Nvidia for this chipset does not include this particular ram, it is also antiquated. It hasn't been updated since August 2004. I checked the script in the source for the page and found the last date of edit. Combine that with the fact that several others I have conversed with have used the exact same RAM in the exact same model, SN45G, without any issues, it leads me to believe there is an issue with the bios not taking and storing any settings.

The issue is with the checksum of the bios. When I flash the bios, the checksum is 3E00H. Once I reboot, the checksum is 0h, and all settings are at default for optimized.

Any changes, even the suggestions Shuttle's tech support gave me, lock the machine in a black screen. This tells me the bios isn't being stored properly. I have already replaced the battery as well, just to eliminate that as a possibility.

My biggest issue now is Shuttle's scripted responses. They have literally given the the same response three times, which I listed earlier. They even went so far as to tell me it wasn't their problem since they didn't design the chipset, just the motherboard.

only suggestion is to try another brand of RAM crucial will be guaranteed to work, by direct from and use their memory configurator to get the correct revision.

never touch the VDimm on a SN45G you will just hose the BIOS and leave the system unusable.

may sound a bit stupid but check if there are any mobo jumpers i'm pretty sure the 45G doesnt have mobo jumpers for FSB.

You're right - the only jumper is the Clear CMOS jumper.

    Hang on a minute...

im another one of those people who have a duff sn45g , this one's a v3 that wont make the cpu go above 1100mhz... its going at 100mhz fsb , x 11.0 for the cpu and i cant seem to change that in the bios... i can change other settings tho, like the boot up floppy seek and the fan settings, but for some reason the clock speeds are not responding to changes

well, from the sounds of it your bios is not saving any settings at all, so i dunnoe if its related or not...
